AQIP Continuous Quality Improvment
Academic Quality Improvement Program website

What is AQIP?

AQIP is a quality improvement program and quality assurance program for higher education organizations. It operates by involving participating institutions in three distinct cycles that occur simultaneously:

  • Action Projects on a one-year cycle,
  • Strategy Forums on a four-year cycle, and
  • Reaffirmation of Accreditation on a seven-year cycle.

For more information about these cycles, open the Cycles of Improvement PDF. For more information about the AQIP program, please visit AQIP's website.

KC's Commitment to Quality

Recognizing Kishwaukee College's commitment to continuous quality improvement, AQIP accepted Kishwaukee College as a participant in August 2005. Following are some excerpts from the acceptance letter:

"The Panel's decision to recommend approval of Kishwaukee College testifies to its recognition of your readiness to join this undertaking, your appreciaiton of both the challenges and potential rewards, and you willingness to collaborate with us in finding new ways to use accreditation to provide value to member organizations."

Some of the AQIP Review Panel's rationale was:

  • "The college has been involved in some type of quality program for several years, indicating familiarity with and commitment to the principles of AQIP.
  • "It appears as though much has been done to communicate the AQIP program to the faculty and staff and that there is sufficient suport from leadership.
  • "Kishwaukee has a fairly well organized plan for identifying their action plans and implementing AQIP continually...
  • "The college has incorporated CQI practices over a period of years and has an established foundation for AQIP."
