Admission to Kishwaukee College is based on an Open Door Policy.

Registering for classes at Kishwaukee College is easy. Just follow the below simple, step-by-step instructions.

Step 1

Complete the Admissions Form and submit to the Admissions, Registration and Records Office. Admission forms are available in the office and online.

Step 2

Submit your official transcripts from high school and/or GED and any former college transcripts to the Admission, Registration and Records Office. Official transcripts must be received and evaluated prior to meeting with a counselor.
* If you are transferring here from another college/university and not completing a degree or certificiate you must submit a completed Prerequisite Request Form along with your official transcripts.

Step 3

Apply for Financial Aid. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FAFSA applications are also available in the Financial Aid/Veterans Affairs Office, 815-825-2086, ext. 224. Scholarship information: www.kishfoundation.com/scholarships.html

Step 4

Take placement tests and register for New Student Orientation. Please make an appointment to take the placement tests or to register for New Student Orientation in the Counseling and Student Development Office, 815-825-2086, ext. 507.
* If you are transferring here from another college/university and have completed 100-level or above college Math or English courses with a "C" or higher you may not be required to take placements test. If you received the following subscores on your ACT test you may not be required to take placements tests. English = 23, Math = 25.

Step 5

Meet with an advisor/counselor. If this is your first time at Kishwaukee College and you plan to attend full-time (12 credit hours or more), you will be required to meet with an advisor/counselor prior to registration.

Step 6

Register for classes online or in person and receive your class schedule. All Admissions, Registration and Records Office transactions require a photo ID.

Step 7

Pay tuition and fees for classes. If you are not eligible for Financial Aid you have two options to pay. Pay in full by the designated tuition due date or enroll in KIPP. Contact the Business Office for more details about KIPP or go to www.kishwaukeecollege.edu/KIPP.

Step 8

Purchase books and supplies in the Kishwaukee College Bookstore. You'll need a copy of your schedule to obtain books.

Step 9

Get your Student/Photo ID. Take your class schedule and another form of ID to the Library to get your ID.

Step 10

Go to class and join a student club or organization!

Open Door Policy

Kishwaukee College has an open door policy, which means admission is open to all in-district residents of Community College District 523 who are high school graduates or the equivalent (GED) or non-graduates who will be 18 years or older during their first semester. Admission is also open to out-of-district, out-of-state, and foreign country residents. See the Kishwaukee College Catalog for additional restrictions and guidelines.
