Coaching Philosophy: (Offense, Defense Preferred-Team Principles Followed- Goals for Program)
OFFENSE: We strive to collectively develop an offensive concept that is team based, to produce as many runs as possible, with as little effort as possible. Main concentration is playing to our strengths. We run the bases well and hit behind runners in good counts. Typically we stress driving the ball to strong or weak gaps depending on counts and situational base running. Homeruns are a great offensive threat, but winning games by giving up outs is an easy concept.
DEFENSE: Concept team defense wins championships. We love to be defensively strong at every position. Teaching Collegiate players the defensive side of the game is a challenge. We look to make plays in every situation, always trying to pound an opponent’s lack of base running skills. We emphasis giving as few bases as possible. Keeping runners out of scoring position by being smart gives us room for error on the mound. The less runs we give the more runs we score gives us a chance to win everyday on the field.
PITCHING: Pitching is a mindset. We challenge out athletes to be mentally strong and command the game. A pitcher is only as good as he believes his team is. I like to concentrate on having a consistent zone and throwing the pitches that are working the most. We need to keep hitters off balance and very the delivery to the plate depending on the situation. We believe that that most games are won on the mound. We bring in the most capable athletes that can handle difficult situations.
Favorite Quote: Keep doing what you’re doing; keep getting what you’re getting. Developed thought.... Most young adults believe they’re doing everything they can to be successful. Look at schedule, effort, performance, grades, the list goes on and on. Not until you can look yourself in the mirror and say, "I’m doing everything I can do," you won’t be successful!
