NJCAA Announces 2009 Softball All-Americans and KC's Teri Becker makes third team! (May 27, 2009)
Teri is the program's first All-American and led the Kishwaukee Kougars to their best finish in program history at 31-20. The Kougars also saw their first appearance on the national polls and were ranked as high as 17th throughout the season. She was named to the Arrowhead All-Conference Team, All-Region IV Team, The Dale Nicholas All-Tournament Team, Region IV All-Tournament Team, and was nominated for the Kishwaukee College Student-Athlete of the year. She was also the NJCAA National Athlete of the Week for March 18th, and was named the April KC Student Athlete of the Month. Becker was named to the school's Dean's List after her fall semester and the Arrowhead Academic All-Conference team for her sophomore year. She was named NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete as well.
Teri finished the season with a .452 batting average, 37 RBIs, 44 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, 86 put-outs and 110 assists. She can easily be considered the most decorated student-athlete to graduate from the softball program. Terri is currently meeting with several Division I institutions to continue both her academic and athletic career.
"Teri made the decision to come back; and I'm so happy that her hard work has paid off," congratulates Head Coach Bill Becker of his daughter. "We are so proud of Teri and all the hard work that she has put into the season and the program. She is a very dedicated and hard working student-athlete that refused to take no for an answer. She has left her mark on the entire department, and although it is sad to see her go-we are very proud of her personal and team accomplishments and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors" lauds Athletic Director Karen Wiley of the sophomore short-stop.
