Sophomore Outside Hitter Samantha Scroggins played in 44 matches for Kishwaukee College this season. She finished 26th in the country for kills with 419, averaging 2.76 kills a set. Sam finished 11th in country for total swings with 1,273 with a .223 hitting %. She finished 37th in the country with 56 service aces along with 512 digs averaging 3.37 digs a set. Sam had 41 total blocks & scored Kishwaukee 3.3 points a set.

Kishwaukee Volleyball celebrated its 17th consecutive Arrowhead Conference Title for the 2013-14 season. Kishwaukee finished 12-0 overall in conference. Kish finished the conference with 512 kills averaging 13.47 kills a set for a .296 hitting %. Kish had 81 service aces averaging 2.13 aces a set. Kish finished with 704 digs averaging 18.53 a set. Kish had 96 total blocks with 66 solo blocks. Kish averaged 18.1 scored points a set.

Sophomore Outside Hitter Samantha Scroggins finished with 115 averaging 3.19 kills a set. Sam finished with 305 total swings for a .259 hitting %. She finished with 23 service aces along with 128 digs averaging 3.56 digs a set. Sam had 15 total blocks, 7 solo blocks & scored Kishwaukee 4.1 points a set.
Sophomore Setter Rosie Aumann finished with 22 kills with a .606 hitting %. Rosie finished with 341 total assists averaging 9.47 a set. She finished with 9 service aces along with 75 digs and 14 blocks. Rosie was also awarded All Conference her Freshman season.
Sophomore Middle Hitter Akeelah Muhammad finished with 69 kills with a .313 hitting %. Akeelah finished with 10 aces and 33 digs. She finished with 21 solo blocks and 36 total blocks. Akeelah scored Kishwaukee 2.8 points a set.
Freshman Opposite Hitter Allison Humes finished with 79 kills averaging 2.63 a set and a .404 hitting %. She finished with 25 digs, 8 solo blocks and 15 total blocks & scored Kishwaukee 3.0 points a set.
Freshman Outside Hitter Lyndi Scholl finished with 111 kills averaging 3.47 a set and a .262 hitting %. She finished with 12 service aces and 8 total blocks. Lyndi finished with 93 digs averaging 2.91 digs a set & scored Kishwaukee 4.0 points a set.

Sophomore Middle Hitter Akeelah Muhammad played in 44 matches for Kishwaukee College this season. She finished with 229 kills with a .283 hitting %. Akeelah finished with 37 aces and 133 digs. She finished 58th in the country for total solo blocks with 50 and 84 total blocks. Akeelah scored Kishwaukee 2.1 points a set.
Freshman Opposite Hitter Allison Humes played in 40 matches for Kishwaukee College this season. She finished with 256 kills. Allison finished 41st in country with a .302 hitting %. She finished with 17 service aces along with 95 digs and 54 total blocks & scored Kishwaukee 2.3 points a set.

Allison earned 4 Varsity letters in volleyball and basketball at Somonauk High School in Somonauk, IL. In 2012 Allison was awarded All Area 2nd team as well as named all conference in 2011 & 2012. Allison holds top ten records at Somonauk HS for assist, digs, blocks and aces. She holds the all time kill record at Somonauk HS. Allison has played club for Cyclones for two seasons.
"Allison is a competitive player. She will impact our team with her blocking and attacking abilities right away. Allison is a terminating attacker who thrives on scoring points around a block. Allison is a selfless player who has a great understanding of team work. Allison is a talented multi-sport athlete, she will be able to draw from those experiences to enjoy a lot of success here at Kishwaukee College." –Coach Gooden
Kish Volleyball Team Competes in NIU Tourney
Kishwaukee College volleyball team played in the NIU Salvani spring tourney on 3/23. Kish played University of Illinois Chicago, Northern Illinois University, NIU Alumni & Augustana University. The competition was tough & challenged the team. A huge thank you to all of our fans who came out to support.
KC holds Athletic Hall of Fame induction
The Kishwaukee College Athletic Department honored four of its past outstanding student-athletes during a Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Our current volleyball team was able to spend some time with former volleyball player Megan Lawler. Megan Lawler was a two-sport student-athlete, playing Volleyball and Basketball, from 2006-08. As a Volleyball player, Megan played on two National Championship teams, compiling a phenomenal 109-5 overall record. She was named Arrowhead All-Conference both years, being named MVP her sophomore year. Megan was also named Arrowhead All-Conference for basketball both years, being named the conference MVP her sophomore year, marking the first time for a student-athlete to be named conference MVP in two sports. Megan was also named to Second Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American. She finished her Basketball career at Kishwaukee College holding records for 2nd for Career Rebounds (626) and 8th for Scoring (956). Megan graduated as an active member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, earning NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American status (4.0 G.P.A.).

Lyndi earned 3 Varsity letters in volleyball at Kaneland High School in Maple Park, IL. In 2012 her team has the best record in program history, captured a Regional Title, Lyndi was named NIBIG XII Honorable Mention and she finished 2nd on the team in kills. Lyndi has been playing volleyball since the 7th grade. Lyndi plays club for Team One. Lyndi is involved in the PE leadership program at Kaneland High School where she works with special needs students and school clubs. "Lyndi is a dynamic all around player. Lyndi is an effective, smart attacker that assists her team to success in rallies. Lyndi’s a strong communicator which allows her to be an impactful team mate. Lyndi’s foundation of hard work, knowledge of the game, her sense of the importance of team and her desire to play the game she loves will bring her success here at Kishwaukee College." –Coach Gooden
Kishwaukee College Volleyball is proud of Samantha Basar & Ashley Belcher for their induction to Phi Theta Kappa
The Alpha Rho Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society welcomed 55 students as new members this spring at Kishwaukee College. The new members were inducted during a candle-lighting ceremony held in the College’s Jenkins Auditorium on February 27. Alpha Rho Eta officers for the 2012-13 academic year are: Gladys Sanchez, President; Alex Dolister, Vice President; Carly Hoecherl, Recording Officer; Luis Aguilar, Public Relations Officer; and Jennifer Link, Hallmark Officer. The Kishwaukee College chapter faculty advisors are Laurie Hoecherl and Niki Criswell.
During the ceremony, inductees and their family and friends enjoyed a performance by Brian Beer on the Chapman Stick. The Key Note Speaker was Tania Nezrick, Kishwaukee College Biology faculty and Honorary Member of the Alpha Rho Eta chapter. Nezrick spoke on scholarship, learning, and achievement. After the ceremony was completed, inductees, family and friends enjoyed a cupcake and punch reception in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center Atrium.
Annually, more than 90,000 students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. The purpose of this honor society is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. The society provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate to exchange ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
To be eligible for membership, a student must complete a minimum of twelve hours of course work and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Students must maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the two-year college.

Kishwaukee College Volleyball is proud to announce the signing of Samantha Scroggins
Samantha earned 2 Varsity letters in volleyball at Naperville North High School in Naperville, IL. In 2011 her team captured the DuPage Conference title. Samantha has been playing volleyball since the 7th grade. All through high school she played for Sports Performance Volleyball Club. Samantha assisted her 17s club team to a 9th place finish at nationals, her 18s club team won NJC & finished 9th at nationals.
"Sam is a complete package player. Sam’s athletic abilities allow her to compete at a high level in multiple positions. Sam is a huge part of the offense in the front & back row. We are excited to add Sam to our roster the depth & leadership she brings is invaluable. Sam’s foundation of hard work, foundation of the game & her desire to be a good team mate will open many doors for her volleyball career here at Kishwaukee College." –Coach Gooden

Rosie earned 4 Varsity letters in volleyball at Racine Lutheran High School in Racine, WI; Rosie has been honored with All-Conference all 4 years, All-County for 3 years, MVP of her team for 3 years & a 4 time AVCA All-Academic Team Member. Rosie was awarded Athlete of the Year from Racine Lutheran HS her senior year. Rosie holds the single season assist record with 957 & she holds the career assist record with 3,523. Rosie plays club for Southwest VBC.
"Rosie’s a “do anything for the team” player, watching her play you see she wills herself to assist her team in order to achieve team success. Grace earned 2 Varsity letters in volleyball at Kaneland High School in Maple Park, IL. In 2011 she helped lead her team to earn 2nd in the Northern Illinois Big 12. Grace was honorable mention in the Northern Illinois Big 12 conference her junior and senior year. Grace was second in kills her senior year, second in hitting efficiency her junior year. Grace held captain duties throughout her school season and during her four years of club at Kane County. "Grace is a positive, hard working player whom I had the privilege to coach against across the net for 3 years. Grace is a smart attacker who can see the court & comes from a strong program at Kaneland HS. Grace will create a challenging atmosphere in our gym & help our team become stronger here at Kishwaukee College." –Coach Gooden

Samantha earned 3 Varsity letters in volleyball at Plainfield North High School in Plainfield, IL; in 2009 her team won their conference. Samantha was a scholar-athlete all 4 years at PNHS. Samantha has held captain duties on her club teams & was selected as an AAU All-American her 16s club year. Samantha plays club for UNO volleyball club & her team has qualified to play in Nationals in Columbus, OH.

Akeelah earned 2 Varsity letters in volleyball at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL. Akjeelah was honored at BTHS as the 110% Female Athlete. Akeelah added to her honors All-Conference & All-Tournament honors her senior year. Akeelah plays club for Diamond Elite volleyball club.

Ashley earned 4 Varsity letters in volleyball at Warrensburg-Latham High School in Warrensburg, IL. Ashley was captain of the Varsity team her Junior & Senior seasons. Ashley was selected to 3 all-tournament teams, awarded First team All-Conference setter & most assists her junior & senior year & named Second team All-County setter by Decatur Herald-Review. Ashley has played club for Prime Time VBC & Illini Elite.

Congratulations to the 2011-12 Volleyball team
The 2011-12 Volleyball team won the Region IV Championship on Saturday, November 5! The team played Black Hawk College in the semi-finals and defeated them 25-21; 25-17; 25-18. In the finals the team faced Carl Sandburg, winning in 3 sets, 25-20; 25-20; 25-15. This marks the program’s 12th consecutive Region IV Championship. Chelsea Neave and Kayla Waddell were named the to All-Region IV Tournament Team. Ariel Listenbarger was named the tournament MVP. The win moves the team along to the NJCAA National Tournament held at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio, November 17-19. Seedings are yet to be set. Updates of scores may be found at www.njcaa.org, under Women’s Volleyball Division II. Also, all matches of the tournament will be video streamed on NJCAA TV as well as www.psblive.com

Post-season honors are beginning to be earned as well. Toni Cole and Mackenzie Johnson were both unanimous Region IV selections! Toni Cole and Ariel Listenbarger were named to the Arrowhead All-Conference Team and freshman Mackenzie Johnson was named the 2011 Arrowhead Conference MVP! Your hard work has paid off. We respect and appreciate how you have represented Kishwaukee College.
