This web page was prepared as a demonstration site for a March 9, 2004 television interview on the WIFR's 23 This Morning Show (CBS Rockford Affiliate) and October 2004 edition of Tech-Directions The Kishwaukee College Computer-Aided Design Technology Program is known for pushing their software (and students) to the limits. This web page contains interactive computer-aided design (CAD) models of our campus in both 2-D and 3-D formats for you to view in real-time. You can perform operations such as zooms, pans, and printings using browser plugins available as FREE browser plug-in downloads on the Internet. ![]() Students in CAD251, 3-D CAD Modeling, Rendering and Animation, recently experimented with Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) which is used with the Cortona® VRML file viewer in common Internet browsers to orbit three-dimensional models on the web. Instructor Mark Schwendau says he believes Kishwaukee to be the first Illinois college to make use of this technology. It is to be noted that this technology is in a state of flux. When this web page was orginally developed, Cosmo Player® was used to view VRML files. In 2004 that browser plugin became unavailable. We will continue to look for new and better FREE VRML file viewers. Schwendau instructed his students in the use of Autodesk's® AutoCAD® and 3D Studio® to create the model. The browser plug-ins have been found to work well both in Microsoft's® Internet Explorer® browser but with less reliability in AOL® and Netscape® Communicator® or Navigator®. If you have questions about viewing this page, contact Kishwaukee College CAD technology instructor Mark Schwendau. If you can't see the two-dimensional CAD drawing below in your browser, visit Autodesk's® product page for a copy of their DWF Viewer® or Volo View® browser plug-ins. Then, right click your mouse to use these browser plug-in's options after downloading.
If you can't see the three-dimensional CAD model below in your browser, you will need to get the Cortona® VRML fil viwer.
