EUROPE
Mike Bostwick, a student in the Fall 2004 class, took these photos from all over Europe.
Italy
The first two photographs are of what is left of the city of Pompeii, a Roman city destroyed by volcano Mount Vesvius in 79 A.D.
No trip to Italy would be complete without a visit to Venice.
Gondola on a canal in Venice.
Besides canals, Venice does have 'real' streets! But the above 'street' in Venice is too narrow for any vehicles. Although it is a stereotype that all city streets in Europe are narrow (not all are), it is more frequent in Europe to find sizable pedestrian walkways in many of the cities.

Inside the Colosseum in Rome. There is a Web site with more information on the Colosseum.
The Trevi Fountain in Rome. There is a Web site here with more information on the Fountain.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Germany
The next three images are scenes from Trier, Germany
Scotland
The Wallace Monument which memorializes William Wallace. Mike says this tower is much larger in person than it looks in the picture. There is a Web site here on the history of Sir William Wallace and a link to more information on the Monument.
Czech Republic
A street performer in Prague makes music by playing glasses
England
The Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament in London. The bell is nicknamed "Big Ben," not the Clock Tower.
Buckingham Palace in London. This is the city residence of Queen Elizabeth and the place where the famous Changing of the Guard takes place.
France
The Eiffel Tower in Paris through the trees.
A World War I Memorial to American fighters. It is the Memorial de 1'Escadrille La Fayette, named for the Lafayette Flying Corps, named in turn for Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roche Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette,
the French leader who helped against the British in the American Revolutionary War.
