Mt. Rainier

Garland Mayton, who is in the geography class at AG Communications Systems in Genoa for Fall 2000, took these photos of Seattle. This first picture is of Mt. Rainier way in the background. Mt. Rainier is classified as an active volcano, but he said that Mt. Rainier just looks closer to the city than it really is. Below is Mt. Rainier again overlooking downtown Seattle from the far distance, but this picture is from the Space Needle.

View of Seattle

The city of Seattle is located along Puget Sound which eventually flows into the Pacific Ocean. Seattle serves as a great location for a port because it has access to the ocean yet it is far enough inland to protect ships from storms out on the open ocean. Seattle is an important city in the Pacific Rim trade and has a sizable and growing high tech-based economy.
