- Why should I consider KIPP?
- If you prefer to spread your tuition payments over several installments, then KIPP is for you.
- How do I enroll in KIPP?
- Log on to KishSOS and select “My KIPP” under the Financial Information heading. Then, enter your 7-digit student ID and birthday and follow the on-screen instructions.
- How many payments will I make?
- That depends on when you enroll in KIPP. If you enroll early, you can spread your tuition payments over as many as six months.
- How do I make my payments?
- When you enroll in KIPP, you will provide bank account or credit card information and will authorize automatic withdrawals on specified dates. Your monthly payment will be equal to your account balance divided by the number of payments remaining on your plan. These payments will continue until your account is paid in full.
- What if I add or drop classes after my payments have begun?
- If your account balance changes for any reason, your future payments will be recalculated automatically such that your account will be fully paid by the end of your plan. You will be notified via email whenever your payment schedule changes.
- What if I don’t have a bank account or credit card?
- You are required to have a checking account, savings account or credit card to participate in KIPP. Many local banks offer checking accounts tailored specifically for college students, and we encourage you to open a new account with one of the fine banks in our district. Promotional materials for these banks can be found on the wall outside the Business Office.
- How much does this program cost?
- There is a $50 fee to enroll in KIPP. Unlike the prior KIPP program, this fee is non-refundable, even if you pay your account early. Also, you will be charged a $25 fee for any payments that are unsuccessful (for non-sufficient funds or closed bank accounts, for example).
- Is a down payment required?
- This depends on the payment plan you select. If you enroll in KIPP early and agree to make payments before the start of classes, a down payment may not be required. However, if you enroll in KIPP later, you may be required to make a down payment. For more information on specific dates, see the KIPP promotional bookmark, available outside the Business Office.
- Will I be deregistered for non-payment?
- In general, students with unpaid balances will get
deregistered (administratively dropped from all classes) after the Tuition Due
Date, which is 8 days before the start of the term. However, if you are
enrolled in KIPP, you will not be deregistered, as long as your KIPP account is
less than 30 days past due.
Important – because KIPP participants will not get deregistered, it is your responsibility to drop any classes that you do not intend to pursue. You will be charged for any class that you fail to drop, even if you do not attend a single day. See Kishwaukee College’s refund policy for more details. - If I don’t initiate payments, how will I know the amount and when will they happen?
- In most cases, payments are made on the 5th of the month. You will be notified of the monthly payment amount when you enroll in KIPP. Also, you can logon to the eCashier website to get your payment schedule information at any time. If your account balance changes (due to classes added or dropped, for example), you will receive an email notifying you of your new payment amount.
- What if I don’t have enough money in my bank account?
- If a payment is rejected by your bank or credit card for any reason, you will be assessed a $25 charge, and we will attempt to withdraw funds again in about 15 days. If this payment fails, you will be assessed another $25 fee and a third payment will be attempted in about another 15 days. When payments get rejected, you will receive an email notifying you of the date and amount of future payment re-attempts.
- What if I don’t pay?
- All uncollected accounts will get turned over to a collection agency. This will adversely affect your credit rating, which may make it difficult to obtain credit cars or purchase a car or house. Please do not enroll in KIPP unless you are confident you can fulfill your payment obligations.
- What if someone else, such as a parent, is paying my tuition?
- When you enroll in KIPP online, you will have the opportunity to enter responsible party information, such as your parents’ bank account information and email address.
- Is it true that some of my tuition must be paid before classes begin?
- Yes, either in the form of early installment payments or down payments. Either way, a minimum of 30% of your tuition will be paid before classes begin.
- So, to avoid deregistration, I have to pay my account in full or enroll in KIPP, which also requires partial payments before classes begin?
- Yes.
- What if I am expecting Financial Aid and cannot afford any out-of-pocket expenditures?
- If you have financial aid pending, you are eligible for the
KIPP Pending Aid plan. Under this plan, you will not be asked for a down
payment and your payments will not begin until about a month after the semester
has begun. By then, your financial aid award will be posted to your account
and your KIPP payments will only be for the amount that your aid did not cover.
To be eligible for this alternative plan, you must have financial aid awarded and accepted by you. Alternatively, if you are pursuing a student loan, your loan application has been received by the Financial Aid Office. - What are my payment dates for the KIPP Pending Aid plan?
- You will have two payments dates, both of which occur after the first financial aid disbursal. For specific payment dates, see the KIPP informational bookmark, available on the wall outside the Business Office.
- Do I need a bank account or credit card for the KIPP Pending Aid plan?
- Yes. For all KIPP plans, you must provide a checking account, savings account or credit card and authorize automatic withdrawals until your account balance is paid in full.
- Is there a charge for the KIPP Pending Aid plan?
- If your financial aid is greater than your account balance, then your aid pays your entire account balance and no KIPP enrollment fee will be assessed. However, if your aid does not fully pay your tuition, then you will be automatically enrolled in a 2-payment KIPP plan and assessed the $50 non-refundable enrollment fee. Exception: If your account balance is less than $100 after applying financial aid, your participation in KIPP will end and therefore you will avoid the $50 fee. In this situation, you will be responsible for paying the remaining account balance directly to the Business Office.
- What if my financial aid application is incomplete or unprocessed?
- If you are applying for a student loan, you must have your
loan application complete and on file in the Financial Aid Office. For all
other financial aid (such as Pell, MAP, FSEOG, etc.), you must have financial
aid pending (i.e. processed and approved) to be eligible. If your financial
aid application is incomplete or unprocessed, you cannot enroll in the KIPP
Pending Aid plan. You will have to select another payment option, all of which
require some or all of your tuition to be paid before classes begin.
It is therefore critical that you submit your financial aid application a minimum of two months before the semester begins. The Financial Aid Office will accept late applications but cannot guarantee that they will be processed before the start of the semester.
