Media Services Brightspace by D2L Workshops
All workshops are conducted in the Multimedia Lab in A1249 across the hall from Media Services. Seating is limited to 12 participants per workshop.
To introduce faculty to Brightspace by D2L (formerly branded Desire2Learn) several 1½-hour “Getting Acquainted” orientation sessions are scheduled during the second and third weeks of the semester. There are 24 sessions so there are several opportunities to fit your schedule.
Register for any of the times listed below and take a tour of the system. You will get an overview of the learning environment's user interface and also a brief introduction to a few tools instructors use in D2L for enhanced courses such as News for announcements, Content for organizing course materials, the Dropbox for assignment submissions, and Grades. In addition we’ll discuss course “shell” management and how the system works with your classes that are created automatically with the integration of the college's Ellucian Student Information System (SIS/KishSOS).
This is your opportunity to get oriented to, ask questions about, and take a tour of D2L. Don’t miss out!
To register for the one of these sessions, click the checkbox for the session you want to attend and complete the form below. Registration is required as there are D2L Administration tasks that need to be prepared with your D2L ID prior to the sessions.
Workshops for Online/Hybrid Courses
Brightspace by D2L (formerly branded Desire2Learn) is a learning management system (LMS) on the Internet which provides instructors with a robust virtual classroom environment for teaching online or enhancing on-campus courses. A D2L course section shell offers an intuitive password-protected web-based interface to deliver course content materials and contains tools such as an interactive discussion board, email, assignment dropbox, quizzes/exams/surveys for assessments, grade book, etc. Learn about D2L and how to set up a course to teach online in these four workshops.
These workshops consist of a choice from four series (1-2-3-4) that contain four sessions (A-B-C-D).
Workshop A: An Introduction to Desire2Learn
Workshop B: D2L Content Management
Workshop C: D2L Communications Management
Workshop D: D2L Course Management
It is recommended that you attend an entire series of four workshops if you intend to teach an online/hybrid course.
To register for the workshops, click the checkbox for the sessions you want to attend and complete the form below. It is important that you register as there are some D2L Administration tasks that need to be prepared with your D2L ID prior to the workshops.
