KC Forensics posts strong showing at MVCC tournament

The Kishwaukee College Forensics Team started its strong season at the Moraine Valley Community College Tournament held at the Moraine Valley campus in Palos Hills on October 12. “This was our first tournament of the year and it was a nice time,” stated Chase Budziak, Director of Forensics at Kishwaukee College. “ After our success last season it feels like there is a lot of pressure to perform. Accordingly, Micayla Skonie started the season off as the Tournament Champion of Prose interpretation. As our only returning member from last season, Micayla is a wonderful example and setting the pace for our new group of highly talented freshman.”

The MVCC Tournament was open only to community colleges; later tournaments will include university teams. The Kishwaukee team took 6th Place out of 18 teams competing.

Individual honors earned by the team were: Micayla Skonie - 1st Place Prose Interpretation; 2nd Place Improvisational Scene; and 4th Place Impromptu Speaking; Solana Contreras - 4th Place Improvisational Scene; and Tania Hernandez - 7th Place Persuasive Speaking. Members of the team who competed for Kishwaukee College were Kendal Baker, Shabbona; Solana Contreras, Rochelle; Tania Hernandez, DeKalb; Olivia Holloway-Racine, DeKalb; Sydney Klein, Oregon; Micayla Skonie, Malta; and Alexander Wragg, DeKalb.

The Kishwaukee College team is coached by Chase Budziak, Director of Forensics, and Kacy Abeln, Assistant Director of Forensics.
