KC beginning and intermediate ESL classes in DeKalb County

The Adult Education and Transition Programs division at Kishwaukee College is offering free beginning and intermediate level English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at various times during fall 2011 in the DeKalb County area. The fall semester began August 22. Beginning and intermediate ESL classes help adults with limited English proficiency learn the basics of speaking, listening, reading, and writing with practical applications to daily life.

Beginning ESL is offered at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road. Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9:00- 11:40a.m. with instructor Jessica Brackemyer. Students may enroll in this class at any time during the semester. With sufficient enrollment, childcare is available through the Family Literacy Program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class.

There is a Beginning ESL class being offered at Conexion Comunidad, 637 N. 11th St. in DeKalb, which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 8:10p.m. with instructor Kara Wilkins. Students may enroll in this class only through September 2 and may register on site. With sufficient enrollment, childcare is available through the Family Literacy Program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class.

A Multilevel ESL class is being offered at St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St. in Genoa (use the rear entrance) on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:30 - 8:10p.m. with instructor Jessica Brackemyer. Students may enroll in this class only through September 2 and may register on site. With sufficient enrollment, childcare is available through the Family Literacy program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class.

An Intermediate ESL class is being offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 - 11:40a.m. in Room A-110 at Kishwaukee College. The instructor is Chad Steponik. Students may enroll in this class at any time during the semester. With sufficient enrollment, childcare is available through the Family Literacy program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class.

There is another Intermediate ESL class being offered at Conexion Comunidad, 637 N. 11th St. in DeKalb on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 - 8:10p.m. with instructor Pam Papapostolou. Students may enroll in this class only through September 2 and may register on site. With sufficient enrollment, childcare is available through the Family Literacy program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class.
