Academic Degrees
Kishwaukee College has 4 different associate's degree options to choose from. The associate's degrees can be tailored and applied towards a bachelor's degree at 4 year institutions. Even if you don't get an associate's degree from Kishwaukee College, you can complete your freshman and sophomore years at the college for a considerable savings on tuition and fees. The CIS department has transfer agreements with several four year institutions and is adding more all the time. If you know which school you would like to transfer to, the faculty will be happy to work with you to make sure you take the necessary courses.
Not sure you want to get a degree? The CIS department offers 6 certificates to get you started. These certificates can be used to upgrade skills or help you get a position to finance your college career as you are going to school.
Industry Certification
Industry Certification is still important in the IT field. Kishwaukee College's CIS department has the classes to help prepare you for A+, Network+, CCNA, Security+ or Microsoft industry certification. Many of the CIS classes at Kishwaukee College will prepare you to take industry certifications while working hands on with the equipment. The CIS department makes every effort to provide a supportive but challenging environment for students. The faculty's primary concern is instruction and helping students to suceed. Class size is set to maximize instructor interaction with students. All classrooms have computers enabling you to work with the material as you learn it. You'll be writing the applications or building a website. Networking and hardware courses are taught in labs with computers, routers and other hardware needed to really learn the materials. You won't just get the theory or explanation behind networking; you'll actually be building a network.
