From mass transportation, to agriculture, to construction, the driving force behind today’s heavy vehicles and equipment is the diesel engine with its massive power and incredible durability. Without diesel engines, vital work comes to a screeching halt. When these costly breakdowns occur, we turn to diesel technicians.
Diesel techs work in large and small shops throughout the nation. Others are employed by organizations that maintain their own vehicles. Some diesel techs specialize in a specific area such as major engines, transmissions, hydraulics, or brakes while others do all types of repairs. Since breakdown time is expensive, diesel techs also concentrate on preventative maintenance.
As diesel-operated machinery becomes more and more sophisticated, so do the tools of the trade. Increasingly, the diesel’s electronic components require computerized testing equipment to diagnose and repair problems.
