This program is a cooperative agreement between Northern Illinois University and Kishwaukee College designed to fulfill Northern Illinois University students’ need to complete Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra or both.
Courses are offered by Kishwaukee College on Northern Illinois University’s Campus. This means students will have a transcript on file at Kishwaukee. Once all tuition and fees are paid in full to Kishwaukee College, a grade report will be sent to the student and to NIU following course completion.
Registration:
Students register for KCMA courses through T.R.A.C.S. at NIU after meeting with a counselor.
Placement Testing:
Students placing in the following NIU placement test levels will register according to the information listed below:
Level E Register for KCMA 090
(A Kishwaukee College placement exam will be given the first day of class.)
Level D Register for KCMA 098
Financial Aid:
If a student is receiving any financial aid, scholarship, or grants from Northern Illinois
University, be aware that the aid at NIU will NOT pay for the tuition/fees for the
Kishwaukee College KCMA course. It is YOUR responsibility to pay for this course.
Kishwaukee College Refund Policy:
100% through the first week of class
50% through the second week of class
Payment Information
Tuition is paid directly to Kishwaukee College.
If a student is receiving any financial aid, scholarship, or grants from Northern Illinois University, be aware that the aid at NIU will NOT pay for the tuition/fees for the Kishwaukee College KCMA course. It is YOUR responsibility to pay for this course. (Please be sure to include the student’s name when mailing in a payment.)

Dropping/Withdrawing:
- The first week of classes students may use the NIU T.R.A.C.S. registration system to withdraw from the class.
- After the first week, the student must do one of the following:
- Obtain a Kishwaukee College drop form from the KCMA course instructor, complete the information requested, and return it to the instructor,
- Complete the drop form at the office of Admissions, Registration, and Records at Kishwaukee College,
- Fax your request to be withdrawn from the class to Kishwaukee College (815) 825-2306, or
- Mail your request to the office of Admissions, Registration, and Records at Kishwaukee College. A withdrawal request must include name, social security number, and course title. Withdrawing from the course during the first three weeks will result in no record of the course on a student’s academic record.
