NIU Algebra Information

This program is a cooperative agreement between Northern Illinois University and Kishwaukee College designed to fulfill Northern Illinois University students’ need to complete Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra or both. 

Courses are offered by Kishwaukee College on Northern Illinois University’s Campus. This means students will have a transcript on file at Kishwaukee. A grade report will be available to the student on KishSOS and a transcript will be sent to NIU following course completion.

Placement Testing:

Students placing in the following NIU placement test levels will register according to the information listed below:

         Level E         (An additionall placement test is needed to determine placement between MAT 096 or MAT 098. See link above.)

         Level D         See link above.
        

Financial Aid:

If a student is receiving any financial aid, scholarship, or grants from Northern Illinois University, be aware that the aid at NIU will NOT pay for the tuition/fees for the Kishwaukee College KCMA course. It is YOUR responsibility to pay for this course. 

Kishwaukee College Refund Policy:

100% through the first 6% of the class
50% between 6% and 12% of the class.

Specific dates will be available on your class schedule.

Payment Information

Tuition is paid directly to Kishwaukee College.

If a student is receiving any financial aid, scholarship, or grants from Northern Illinois University, be aware that the aid at NIU will NOT pay for the tuition/fees for the Kishwaukee College  KCMA course.  It is YOUR responsibility to pay for this course. 

Dropping/Withdrawing

1. Using KishSOS
Through the refund period, you can drop a course from your schedule using KishSOS. After that, you must withdraw from class(es) in-person. Refer to the section on Tuition and Fees.
2. In-Person, in the Admissions, Registration and Records Office
Drop or withdraw by completing an Add/Drop Form.
3. By Mail
Send your request, including your written signature to:
