Kishwaukee College offers a number of support services designed to assist students to be successful at the College. Some of these services are listed below with contact information for any questions.
Kishwaukee College has partnered with the Voluntary Action Ctr. of DeKalb to provide limited bus transportation between the College and the DeKalb area. One bus arrives on campus by 8 a.m. and a second bus arrives by 9 a.m.. Students may choose to depart at 1, 2, or 3:30 p.m. A 16-week round trip bus pass is $120. Registration for the bus is done in the Admissions, Reg., & Records Office, ext. 249.
Refunds for bus passes are handled like any course refund. See the refund section of this brochure.
Individual career exploration and counseling services are provided in the Counseling & Student Development Ctr. (U-148, ext. 507) and assistance with job openings via the Internet, resume and cover letter writing, and interviewing skills are provided by the Employment Resources Center (ERC) located in U-135, ext. 408.
Personal counseling, educational planning, career decision-making, and goal setting assistance are offered by the counseling staff. Appointments are recommended and can be made by contacting the Center (U-148), ext. 507.
On-campus child care services are available for all children 2-5 years of age, to all community residents, Kishwaukee students, and staff. For the Spring Semester, the hours are from 7:15 a.m. - 5:15 p.m., January 14 - May 14. The Center’s professional staff offer a wide variety of developmentally appropriate learning activities to encourage growth in all areas of development. Parents are advised to contact the Center approximately two months prior to the desired start date. Parents of enrolled children are required to complete all registration forms and obtain a current physical examination (including evidence of all immunizations and TB test) prior to their child’s start date. Student ID cards may be obtained in the Library. Kishwaukee College ID cards are required for all Learning Skill Center services, and for Library and Media Services check-outs. They may be requested to receive reduced student entrance fees to Kishwaukee student activities and events. Once issued, ID cards will remain active as long as you are enrolled in classes in the college. There is no cost to obtain your first ID card. Replacements carry a $3 fee.

Students who have special needs for which they are requesting accommodations must contact the Disability Services Coordinator at least 30 days before the start of the term to discuss accommodations and services needed in order to achieve their educational goals. Documentation such as an I.E.P., medical records or psychological testing will be needed. Following this appointment, prospective students should schedule placement testing, if needed, and meet with the special needs counselor to set up a class schedule.
