Student Worker Hiring Process:

  • Locate positions you are interested in either below or outside of the Career Center (C2123)
  • Submit the following documents to the supervisor listed on the job description or to the Career Center:
    • Student Worker Application
    • Resume
    • Class Schedule
    • Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable)
  • The supervisor for each department will set up interviews and make a selection from there.
  • Once a student is made an offer, they will be required to complete hiring paperwork. 
  • Please note:  ALL positions will require a background check!

Important Information:

  • Student Workers are able to work a maximum of 20 hours/week
  • Student Workers must maintain a 2.0 GPA and 6 credit hours at Kishwaukee College for the fall and spring semesters.  Your position will be in jeopardy if you do not maintain these two requirements.
  • Students are paid directly twice a month and the funds may go towards whatever the student chooses.  It does not have to go towards a specific item like books or tuition.
  • No positions are guaranteed to students, even if they qualify for Federal Work-Study, everyone must go through the Student Worker Hiring Process above.

Student Success Leader

DEPARTMENT: Retention and Student Success

JOB DESCRIPTION

Contact first-year students who are at-risk of being unsuccessful. Assist with success-related activities and discussions. Serve as a guide/mentor who helps new students integrate into campus culture. Assist with peer mentor training and development sessions. Participation in ongoing leadership development. Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementation of student success workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Student must have earned 12 college credits at Kishwaukee College with a cummulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher. Enthusiasm and ability to positively represent KC to a diverse group of students. Punctuality, reliability, flexibility and strong problem-solving skills. Comfort with approaching new students, speaking in front of groups, and assisting individual students. Student Ambassador

DEPARTMENT: New Student Connections (Student Outreach and

JOB DESCRIPTION

Student Ambassadors are current Kishwaukee College students who are considered to be the “face” of the College. They educate new/prospective students about the College and serve as positive role models all students. Because these are very public positions, professionalism and the ability to effectively communicate are key qualifications in addition to flexibility of work hours. General duties include, but are not limited to: • Scheduling and delivering campus tours for prospective students and families. • Assisting with the implementation of College-wide events such as College Night, graduation, Visit Day, high school One Stop events, Orientations, etc. This includes greeting and/or checking in visitors, offering directions, guiding tours, participating in student panels, serving as Call Center Specialists, etc. • Responding to general inquiries regarding the admissions process, financial aid, student activities, student success, and services available to new and prospective students and families in a variety of settings including face-to-face interactions, e-mail, and telephonically. • Serving as a role model and ambassador of Kishwaukee College and its policies and procedures, offices and divisions, services, and campus life in a professional manner to new/prospective students and families. This involves protecting the image and credibility of the institution. • Facilitating interaction among visitors during tours, Orientation sessions, high school visits, etc. • Serving as Call Center Specialists. This includes answering phones, delivering calls to prospective students, forwarding calls to the correct offices, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION

*Greet and direct students. *Manage the front desk sign-in. *Answer telephones. *Assist faculty and answer general questions.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

*Must be work-study eligible! *Must be able to communicate well in a polite and respectful manner. *Relate in a professional manner with students, faculty, and staff. *Must be very dependable, responsible, and self-motivated. *Must be able to pay attention to detail and handle multiple tasks. *Must be able to work one evening per week until 7:00pm.
