Student Worker Hiring Process:

  • Locate positions you are interested in either below or outside of the Career Center (C2123)
  • Submit the following documents to the supervisor listed on the job description or to the Career Center:
    • Student Worker Application
    • Resume
    • Class Schedule
    • Financial Aid Award Letter (if applicable)
  • The supervisor for each department will set up interviews and make a selection from there.
  • Once a student is made an offer, they will be required to complete hiring paperwork. 
  • Please note:  ALL positions will require a background check!

Important Information:

  • Student Workers are able to work a maximum of 20 hours/week
  • Student Workers must maintain a 2.0 GPA and 6 credit hours at Kishwaukee College for the fall and spring semesters.  Your position will be in jeopardy if you do not maintain these two requirements.
  • Students are paid directly twice a month and the funds may go towards whatever the student chooses.  It does not have to go towards a specific item like books or tuition.
  • No positions are guaranteed to students, even if they qualify for Federal Work-Study, everyone must go through the Student Worker Hiring Process above.

Computer Lab Assistant/Receptionist

DEPARTMENT: Adult Education & Transition Programs

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION IS OFF CAMPUS AT THE ILLINOIS WORKNET CENTER IN DEKALB! Assist customers with accessing internet, email, and other job related websites. Answer phones and direct customers to appropriate services. Business casual attire must be worn during work hours.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Internet usage, and email. Excellent customer service skills. Able to patiently teach others. Dependability is essential.

Health & Education Division Office Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Health & Education Division

JOB DESCRIPTION

*Acts as receptionist for the Health & Ed Div as needed. *Types and distributes a variety of routine material. *Prepares outgoing mail and packages; sorts mail. *Completes filing as assigned by Dean, Coord, or Admin Assist. *Purchases office supplies at the Bookstore. *Requests & compiles information as assigned. *Provides Division office support as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

*Requires HS Diploma or GED. *Previous office experience preferred. *Working towards AAS in Office Systems a plus; but not required. *Good customer service skills. *Ability to organize, set priorities, follow directions and exercise good judgment. *Ability to understand & communicate the basics of the Health & Ed Div. *Ability to work cooperatively with a diversity of students, staff, faculty and the KC Community.

Student Worker

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

JOB DESCRIPTION

*Process employee and other related Human Resources forms and documentation. *Answer general questions and provide basic information to employees questions as it relates to benefits or programs offered to employees of the College. *maintain and update Human Resource Information Systems as necessary. *Digitize and back index all Human Resource documents at the College for integration into the Human Resources Information System as indicated by the Director. *Assist the Human Resources Specialist and Director in projects as assigned. *Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Indviduals in this position should possess skills and demonstrate understanding in Microsoft Office Productivity Suite. Some administrative or clerical office assistance experience.

Receptionists (3 needed)

DEPARTMENT: Learning Skills Center

JOB DESCRIPTION

*Greet and direct students. *Manage the front desk sign-in. *Answer telephones. *Assist faculty and answer general questions.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

*Must be work-study eligible! *Must be able to communicate well in a polite and respectful manner. *Relate in a professional manner with students, faculty, and staff. *Must be very dependable, responsible, and self-motivated. *Must be able to pay attention to detail and handle multiple tasks. *Must be able to work one evening per week until 7:00pm.
