System Specialist, Financial Aid

Reports to:

Coordinator, Financial Aid

Description/Responsibilities:

  • Provides computer software support for the Financial Aid/Veterans’ Affairs office.
  • Maintains and writes rules, queries, ad hoc reporting, and other processes needed to award federal and state financial aid programs.
  • Works with functional and technical staff to manage, develop and ensure the integrity of the Financial Aid Office systems.
  • Tests and debugs monthly software patches.
  • Maintains computer software programs supplied by federal and state agencies.
  • Serves as liaison to the Information Technology department.
  • Processes annual account reconciliation for the Federal Pell grant program.
  • Reviews, verifies and makes financial aid awards to eligible applicants.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2 years directly related experience; financial aid experience and computer programming background highly desirable.
  • Experience with MS Excel and Word required; experience with MS Access desirable.
  • Experience desirable with Datatel, Colleague, Release 18 or current versions of other ERP software products such as Banner or PeopleSoft.
  • Ability to focus on detail and to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
