One of my students forgot their email account password, can you reset it?

ANSWER:  IT has no way to verify a student’s identity.  If they have forgotten their email account password and need to have it reset, they will need to contact the Admissions, Records, and Registration Department by phone or in person.

Call 815.825.2086 extension 2740.  Ask to have the student email account password reset.  AR&R will verify their identity and reset their email password to their student ID number.

Why am I having trouble viewing KishSOS using Internet Explorer 8?

ANSWER: Datatel has not yet certified the use of IE 8 with WebAdvisor (KishSOS), and the error in their bug report corresponds with the errors reported by our users. Information Technology would recommend not upgrading IE beyond version 7.

For those already using IE 8, KishSOS might work if you set your browser to “compatibility mode.” The Microsoft video link will provide the instructions needed to enable “compatibility mode” in Internet Explorer 8.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/videos.aspx?mname=howto_compatibility

If you have already installed IE 8, the compatibility mode doesn't work for you, and don’t wish to uninstall it, we would recommend downloading and installing Firefox, Opera or Safari. The IE 8 bug is currently under investigation at Datatel no estimated for a patch has been provided.

Why can’t I see Class Search results?

ANSWER:  If you have the Google Toolbar installed, you will need to uninstall it.  The default installation prevents Class Search results from populating when searching for classes in KishSOS. It may affect other display screens as well.

Why can't I see all of the user menu bars?

If a user can login, but can only see two bars of the User Menu: Log In Help and My Application, they will need to change the resolution size of their monitor.

Follow these steps to reset your monitor’s resolution.

  • With your mouse, right click on your Desktop.  Any part of the desktop without an icon or open window will work.
  • From the pop up menu Select Properties.  (Left click)

2

  • From the new menu Select Settings (Left click)

Control Panel: Display: Settings tab: Screen resolution

  • Under Screen Resolution move the arrow to the right until you see 1024x768
  • Select Apply (Left click)

Error Message: Maximum number of cookie values has been reached.

ANSWER:  Log out of WebAdvisor, then login again.

  • Use the CLOSE WINDOWS button (at the bottom of the page) when displayed.
  • Do not use the close window (red X) at the top of the screen to close additional pages.

The Internet Explorer error is caused by opening then closing pages in WebAdvisor using the close window (red X) instead of CLOSE WINDOWS button.

For example: if you opened an additional page (to check pay advices) The Close Windows button will close the page and not generate the error.

1

Using the close window (red X) will close the page, but will also generate the maximum number of cookie values has been reached error.
