Admission & Next Steps
Admission to Kishwaukee College is based on an Open Door Policy, which means admission is open to all in-district residents of Community College District 523 who are high school graduates or the High School Equivalency (HSE) or non-graduates who will be 18 years or older during their first semester. Admission is also open to out-of-district, out-of-state, and foreign country residents. See the Kishwaukee College Catalog for additional restrictions and guidelines.

Registering for classes at Kishwaukee College is easy. Just follow the below simple, step-by-step instructions.
If you are a former Kishwaukee College student that has attended within the past 2 years, your records are still in the system and you can continue to Step 2. If it has been OVER 2 years since last attending Kishwaukee College then start at Step 1.
Step 1 - Apply for Admissions

Submit the Student Information Form and official transcripts to the Enrollment Services C2100.
Kishwaukee College has an open admissions policy, everyone is welcome! All new students, including dual credit and students who have been inactive for two years or more should complete the Student Information Form. Apply online! Click here for the PDF version Student Information Form.
Please submit all official transcripts from high school, GED, military and/or any former colleges or universities to Enrollment Services C2100, in order to complete the admission process. Visiting Students only need to submit unofficial transcripts if needed for prerequisite proof and Request for prerequisite evaluation form. Contact Enrollment Services at 815-825-9375.
Step 3 - Determine Placement
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA. The Kishwaukee College School code is 007684. Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, if possible, for more accuracy. NOTE: as of March 1, 2017 the DRT tool is under going security enhancements and will not available until October 1, 2017. You will need your 2015 tax returns to complete the financial portion of the FAFSA.
Step 4 - Schedule Academic Counseling
Placement into college-level courses can be determined by previous college coursework, Advanced Placement and CLEP scores, ACT scores, SAT scores, or high school GPA. All test scores and GPA must be within 3 years. Please visit the Placement Test Webpage for criteria. If applicable, college and score transcripts should be submitted to Enrollment Services C2100. Students who do not meet the criteria for a waiver can schedule a placement exam by contacting Enrollment Services at 815-825-9375.
Step 5 - Register for Classes and Pay Tuition
Meet with an Academic Counselor if necessary. An appointment can be made by calling Enrollment Services at 815-825-9375.
Step 6 - Attend New Student Orientation (NSO)
Register online through your student portal (myKC) or in person in Enrollment Services C2100. For questions about registration, please contact Enrollment Services at 815-825-9375. For payment options, go to myKC or visit the Business Office C2140. Payments must be received prior to the tuition due date, check your myKC for important dates and deadlines. myKC: How the College Communicates
As a new student, you will need to set up your myKC portal in order to receive communications from the College. After your initial admissions letter, official communications you receive from the College are available through the portal. Within myKC, you can access KishSOS functions (registration, class schedule, grades, etc.) and your student e-mail account (firstname.lastname@example.org), as well as team sites for student organizations, campus alerts, and more.
With myKC, you can:

- Locate Financial Aid information & award letter
- Register for classes
- View class schedule
- Make payments
- Enroll in KIPP
- View grades
- And more!
To set up your account, you will need your 7-digit student ID number (found on your admissions letter, this number starts with a zero).
Have you already activated your account, but can’t find your password? The College cannot retrieve your passcode; however, you can call the Help Desk at 815-825-9888 to reset your account.
