• Dual credit courses are typically taught at the high school and will simultaneously earn high school and college credit. The cost is only $50 for a dual credit course at most high schools.
• Dual enrollment courses are college courses taken on campus or online while still in high school. High school students as well as Kishwaukee College students may be enrolled in these courses. They may count toward high school credit with approval from high school administrators. Students will pay the cost of full college tuition and fees.
• AP courses are offered through the high school. College credit awarded is determined by the Advanced Placement test score. Visit Advanced Placement Test Scores for Kishwaukee College AP credits.

• All Dual Credit courses must fulfill the same content and rigor requirements as its college equivalent. To learn more, view the ICCB Administrative Rules. 

• Most dual credit courses are taught by high school instructors who meet the qualifications to teach a specific college course. On occasion, Kishwaukee College faculty are contracted to teach a dual credit course either at the high school or online.

• Many of the dual credit courses require a demonstration of minimum competency. This can be shown through ACCUPLACER test scores, GPA, ACT, SAT, or PSAT scores. Other courses require specific math, English, or writing competencies. Visit our placement page for more information.

• Visit kish.edu/apply to complete the Kishwaukee College Application and create a myKish Student Account.
• Work with the high school counselors to meet eligibility requirements and complete the dual credit registration forms.

• Talk to your high school counselor and Kishwaukee College about dual enrollment and AP options. Visit Dual Enrollment at Kish for specific requirements. 

• Dual Credit courses can be dropped with approval from the high school counselor. If the decision to not take the course occurs before the 10^th day of class, students will not be charged. If a class is dropped after the 10^th day, but before final grades are submitted, the charges for the class remain, and the student will receive a W on their transcript. A class cannot be dropped once final grades are submitted.

• The Kishwaukee Education Consortium (KEC) offers courses focused on career and technical pathways. Visit kish.edu/kec for more information on specific course offerings.
• The Engineering, Math & Science Academy (EMSA) is a program available to talented and motivated juniors and seniors interested in pursuing science, engineering or nursing in college. Visit kish.edu/emsa for more information on the three track options available.

• Kishwaukee College charges each student $50 for a dual credit course taught by a high school instructor. Some high schools cover the cost for students. This fee is waived for individuals who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Some courses require the purchase of books or other supplies in addition to the course fee.

• Yes, official or unofficial transcripts are available when a dual credit course is complete. Visit kish.edu/transcripts to request a copy.

• Kishwaukee College participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) that guarantees transfer of credit for General Education Core Curriculum courses for participating Illinois institutions. For more information concerning IAI visit https://itransfer.org/.
• Kishwaukee College is a member of Transferology, a nationwide network designed to explore college transfer credit options. For more information visit https://www.transferology.com/school/kishwaukeecollege.
• Students are also encouraged to contact prospective colleges and universities to confirm that desired credits will transfer.

• The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects education records of a student at the age of 18 years old or when they enter a post-secondary institution at any age. A student may grant or revoke permissions to discuss their information with another at any time by completing the FERPA form. Visit Confidentiality at Kish for more information.

• Accommodations are available to dual credit students with a documented disability.  If the student is taking the class on the Kish campus, those accommodations will be set up through the Disability Services Office at Kish. A copy of the student's documentation is required.  If the class is being taught at the home high school, accommodations would be set up there.

• If a student qualifies for free/reduced lunch, the fee for dual credit classes at your high school will be waived. FAFSA and other financial aid awards and scholarships are only available once a student completes high school.
• Currently, there are no scholarships available to high school students. After graduation, students who earned college credit in high school and attend Kishwaukee College are eligible to receive the Dual Credit Scholarship. 

• As a dual credit or dual enrolled student, you are a Kishwaukee College student. You have access to the same resources as other KC students including free tutoring, disability services, the Kish Store, library, math lab, and research support. You can also come to campus and get a student ID that will allow you take advantage of any retailers that offer college student discounts.
