Disability Services

Kishwaukee College is committed to providing quality, affordable, education to all learners. Disability Services is here to help students that need services to ensure equal access to all programs and activities.

Kishwaukee College complies with the American’s with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 states “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall, solely by reason of his or her disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

Title II of the Americans with Disability Act of 1990 states “Subject to the provisions of this title, no qualified individual with a disability shall by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subjected to discrimination by such entity.”

Steps for Receiving Accommodation
  1. Fill out and submit the Disability Services online intake form.
  2. Collect your documentation and either attach it to the intake form or drop it off at Disability Services, C1210.
  3. Attend an intake appointment to discuss classes, the impact of your disability, and possible accommodations with our staff.
  4. Request your Letter of Accommodation and discuss the accommodations you will use with each instructor.
Steps for Scheduling Exams With Accommodations
  1. Inform your instructor which testing accommodations you’d like to use.
  2. Ask the instructor to send the appropriate office (Disability Services or Testing Services) the test proctoring form. For assistance in determining which office you should schedule with, please view the Accommodated Test Scheduling Guide.
  3. Schedule your exam with the appropriate office.*

*When scheduling, include the name of your course, the date and time you’d like to test, and the accommodations you are requesting. Please bring a photo ID with your first and last name to your test appointment.

Note: Kishwaukee College has a process to ensure equal treatment for pregnancy-related conditions. Students with pregnancy-related conditions, like any other students requesting classroom accommodations, are entitled to reasonable accommodations. To request accommodations, complete the Disability Services intake form and select “Pregnancy/Parenting” to seek assistance.
