Mental Health & Counseling

Kishwaukee College provides a range of support services to assist students with personal matters, including collaboration with Talkspace for online personal therapy and community organizations to offer support.

Talkspace

Talkspace Personal Online Therapy

To prioritize the well-being of our students, Kishwaukee College provides personal online therapy through the digital mental health service Talkspace. Talkspace offers free, confidential therapy to all full-time and part-time Kish students.

Talk with your therapist via:

  • Text
  • Voice messages
  • Video
  • Online live sessions (One 30-minute session per month. If you need more than one session a month, please contact your assigned Academic Advisor.)

Kishwaukee College partners with several DeKalb and Ogle County community agencies to provide resources for non-emergency and emergency services outside of the classroom. The community resources include counseling, childcare services, domestic violence services, mental health, family planning, suicide prevention, substance use, etc., and are available 24 hours a day.

Available to anyone looking for basic needs, crisis and mental health services, financial assistance, health care, support groups, etc. This non-emergency search engine allows students to dial 2-1-1 directly from their cell phone and speak to a live referral worker 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The Hero Journey Club provides a unique weekly subscription service for group mental health sessions in various video games, including Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and many more.

Online resource and screening tool for college mental health. Learn the signs and symptoms of mental health and other disorders, while receiving expert advice. Receive help now and learn what resources and services are available on and off campus, and help a friend by learning the warning signs and what you can do.
