Public Transportation
Kishwaukee College offers public transportation options to help students get to and
from campus with ease. Through partnerships with local transit providers, students
can access free or low-cost transportation throughout the surrounding communities.
Free Bus Pass
Kishwaukee College is pleased to offer free bus passes to students enrolled in at
least three credit hours or participating in GED®, ESL, or short-term training courses
during the 2025–2026 academic year. Voluntary Action Center (TransVAC) and Reagan
Mass Transit District (RMTD) buses will pick up and drop off riders on the south side
of campus at Door 61. A valid bus pass is required to ride to and from Kishwaukee
College and may also be used for travel throughout DeKalb, Lee, and Ogle Counties
during the enrolled semester. Bus passes are available in the Kish Business Office,
C2140.
DeKalb/Sycamore Bus Route (TransVAC)
Kishwaukee College, in partnership with the Voluntary Action Center of DeKalb, provides
bus transportation between the College and the communities of DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa,
Kirkland, Shabbona, and Somonauk. Buses pick up and drop off riders on the south side
of campus at Door 61.
There is a three-step process that must be completed.
- Fill out the registration form.
- Pick up a bus pass from the Kish Business Office, C2140, on the second floor of the Student Center.
- After completing the registration form and getting a bus pass, fill out the Kishwaukee College Student Schedule.

Reagan Mass Transit District (RMTD)
Reagan Mass Transit District (RMTD) provides a route Monday through Thursday with
an 8:00 AM drop-off at Kishwaukee College and a 4:10 pm pick-up at Door 61. On Fridays, RMTD offers Demand/Response service as needed. To schedule a Friday
ride, call RMTD at 815-288-2117.
When calling to make a reservation, please have the following information ready:
- Name
- Address
- Single or round-trip request
- Telephone number
- Desired pick-up time
- Destination address, including ZIP code
