Illinois Nurse Aide Competency
Once students have successfully completed NUR 100 Basic Nurse Assistant Training, they are eligible to take the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Exam to become certified on the Illinois State Nurse Aide Registry. The test consists of 85 multiple choice questions and has a 90 minute time limit. The questions are based on the Illinois state approved test plan. Content topics include:
- Communicating Information
- Performing Basic Nursing Skills
- Performing Personal Care Skills
- Performing Basic Restorative Skills
- Providing Mental Health and Social Service Needs
- Providing Residents' Rights

Registration
- Once your instructor has submitted proof of your eligibility for the exam, you may register online at www.nurseaidetesting.com (click on Exam Registration).
- Please spell your name exactly as it appears on your government-issued photo ID.
- Registration for the paper/pencil version must be completed by the registration deadline, at least 30 days prior to the exam date.
- The exam cost is due at time of registration.

Day of Exam
Testing occurs in Testing Services
- Bring government-issued photo ID.
- You must know your social security number for the exam.
Registration
- Once your instructor has submitted proof of your eligibility for the exam, you may create an account and register online at www.nurseaidetesting.com (click on Exam Registration).
- Please spell your name exactly as it appears on your government-issued photo ID.
- The exam cost is due at time of registration.
- Registration for the online version must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the exam date.
- Please remember your user name and password. You will need that information on test day.

Day of Exam
Testing occurs in Testing Services.
- Bring a government issued photo ID.
- Bring your user ID and password. You will not be able to test without your user ID and password.
If you have a learning or physical disability that would prevent you from taking the exam under standard conditions, you may request testing accommodations. Your instructor or program coordinator will need to contact the SIU Nurse Aide Testing Program in writing. Requests for accommodations must be made to SIU Nurse Aide Testing Program at least 30 days prior to testing.
